Twitter
I have spent a lot of time lately trying to convince my smartest friends to join Twitter. It’s my primary source of up-to-date interesting news, music, and websites these days. I enjoy seeing what other people find intellectually engaging and contributing to that pool of information for my friends. And now for another reason to be into Twitter - apparently it can also be like virtually...

"Ballad of the Girl Whose Name is Mud"
A girl with all that raising, It’s hard to understand How she could get into trouble With a no-good man. The guy she gave her all to Dropped her with a thud. Now amongst decent people, Dorothy’s name is mud. But nobody’s seen her shed a tear, Nor seen her hang her head. Ain’t even heard her murmur, Lord, I wish I was dead! No! The hussy’s telling everybody— Just...

bell hooks was right.
I feel like I’m being productive and progressing toward some end. However, I also feel that I’ve lost a sense of what it is to be real, to feel, and to be rooted. I feel like I’ve lost a lot of my expressive power. Practicing my lines for The Vagina Monologues is interesting; I am another person telling her story. It makes me wonder what my story is these days. I’m not...

Just saw this film at the Cineqmatheque. It was kind of incredible, heartbreaking, and uplifting all at the same time. I question whether I should go into issue-based work or if war crimes prosecution is really the way to go… I think I still want to be part of the immediate struggle for better things, though, and not the aftermath and cleanup. I highly recommend the film.

Power to the People
I become more intrigued and impressed by the law as I continue through my legal education. Professor Jonathan Adler commented today in my Constitutional Law class that “amendments are adopted by ratification of the states. However, the Constitution was ratified by the people. This creates an interesting dynamic.” It’s fascinating that states are considered sovereign and are...

Survival Tactics
I have officially decided to divorce myself from the mainstays of law school social life beginning on January 12, 2009.
Who’s with me? (Law students not invited.)
I swear we're not total law school geeks.
Alexis: you have peculiar and sentimental value to me
me: are you going to sue for specific performance?
Alexis: YES
