Work.
I love European conceptions of “American” - check out these American hotdogs, complete with stars and stripes packaging and a long strip of weirdly colored cheese.

These are the things I’ve been living on lately. I realized yesterday that all I’d had to drink for the previous 36 hours was beer and coffee. Ah well, I had one bottle of water and now I’m back to the beer and coffee. Regarding the beer, I’m happy that the Netherlands is so close to Belgium.
I have spent a lot of time lately trying to convince my smartest friends to join Twitter. It’s my primary source of up-to-date interesting news, music, and websites these days. I enjoy seeing what other people find intellectually engaging and contributing to that pool of information for my friends. And now for another reason to be into Twitter - apparently it can also be like virtually shaking the hands of your favorite stars. Case in point - I just had a personal exchange with Jean Grae, one of my favorite woman hip hop artists. Granted, it was short and just an attempt to get her reconnected to her email (gmail is down!) - and my suggestion didn’t work for her (which doesn’t really make sense, maybe she is looking at the wrong thing) - but it’s still entertaining that she sent me an @reply personally. I still think all my coolest/smartest friends should get on Twitter. Feel free to check mine: http://www.twitter.com/jacquelinecg

“Ballad of the Girl Whose Name is Mud”
A girl with all that raising,
It’s hard to understand
How she could get into trouble
With a no-good man.
The guy she gave her all to
Dropped her with a thud.
Now amongst decent people,
Dorothy’s name is mud.
But nobody’s seen her shed a tear,
Nor seen her hang her head.
Ain’t even heard her murmur,
Lord, I wish I was dead!
No! The hussy’s telling everybody—
Just as though it was no sin—
That if she had a chance
She’d do it agin’!
-Langston Hughes
